be prepared to answer interview questions
Recruiters, also known as headhunters, put their reputations on the line when they send candidates out on interviews. The selection of job seekers they introduce to a hiring organization determines two things: (1) whether their candidate fulfills the requirements for the open position and (2) whether the interviewer will send along additional openings for the recruiter to fill. With so much on the line, recruiters ask tough interview questions to assess your qualifications.
What are your salary requirements?
The usual advice is to tell you not to answer salary questions until you are offered the position. However, this rule doesn't apply with recruiters. You must divulge your compensation.
Are you looking for a long-term position?
Recruiters get paid upon placement, but they have to return payment if the applicant doesn't last three months. (On a side note, the number of months varies). So it makes sense for them to determine your commitment before they send you off on interviews.
The interviewer is looking for _____________. What is your experience in this area?
Recruiters get paid 25% of the candidates annual salary. For that handsome fee, hiring managers expect to interview applicants who fit the requirements to the letter.
You have to be proficient in (software, application) for the position. You have to take a test.
Be prepared to take numerous tests to prove you are capable of
performing the jobs outlined in the job description.

Recruiters work for the hiring organization, not for you. That said, excellent headhunters will work with you to place you in the perfect position.

|
Never pay a recruiter. The hiring organization is the one who foots the bill for the placement.
