good interview questions to ask during an interview

The job interview’s purpose is for you and the decision maker to ask good interview questions throughout the meeting. Leaving all the questioning to the interviewer leaves you in a position of weakness because when the interview is over, chances are, you won’t have a full understanding of the company and its practices.

Good interview questions to ask fall into the following categories:

Working for an organization that is innovating new products/services is essential because you want to be part of a team who is always looking to have a competitive edge. A company that never puts effort into research and development is suspect. In addition, you want to work for an organization that adheres to their mission statement.

I read in _______ that the market is shifting to green products. Does this company have plans to meet the consumer demand?
How does the company mission play out on a day-to-day basis?

Finding out the daily responsibilities of the position is one thing, asking questions to uncover the stability of the position is priceless.

Why is this position open?

What is the turnover for this job?

A series of good interview questions deal with how the organization values its employees and their hard work.

When a position opens up, what percentage are filled by internal employees and what percentage is filled by external employees?

Are performance reviews provided every six months (say whatever timeframe is important to you)

An exceptional “worker bee” doesn’t always make the best manager. Seek employment with a company who understands that managers should have a leadership qualities and base their hiring decisions on whether someone can motivate a team to achieve excellence.

What type of management style does this organization encourage?

Are managers promoted because of the number of years they worked for the company or because they have strong leadership skills?
